The Lake Zombies

This experience was had by my husband. Like me, he has had several things happen to him over the years. This happened around the same period of time as the compass story.

One night my husband was driving home. About a mile and a half from our house is a boat launch. As he was driving home he saw a couple with an old car. It appeared that they were broken down, so he stopped to help. As the couple approached he noticed that they didn't look right. Their clothes were very out of date, and torn and tattered. Then, he says, as they walked closer to him, he could see they were not of this world. Their skin was decomposing and flaking off.

My husband is not someone who is easily scared, but this scared him. He left without waiting for them to reach him. He is convinced he saw what he refers to as "Lake Zombies". This encounter scared him so much that he refused to even go in the lake for a few years after this happened.

Interestingly, this is not the only time a couple has been sighted on our road. Although I wasn't there for the experience at the boat launch, I have been present for two other experiences.

First - One evening we were coming home. It wasn't dark yet, but dusk was approaching. We saw two people sitting on a guardrail. Both my husband and I saw them. We decided to turn around and see if they needed help. We thought that perhaps they were snowmobile riders who had a problem, as the area we saw them in was near a big field area next to a cemetery that people use to snowmobile on.

We turned around at the first side road and went back to see if they needed help. However, when we got back nobody was there. There was nobody walking in the road, there were no footprints in the snow, there was no snowmobile or tracks, or anything to indicate that there had been people there.

Another time, again driving home on the same road we saw two people walking on the side of the road. I kiddingly said to my husband "I wonder if those people will disappear too?" He then looked in the rear view mirror after we passed and they were gone.

The Compass

We moved into our home in October 2001. Not too long after we moved here, we had our first unexplained experience. I don't remember the date, but I know we hadn't been here long because I was still in the process of unpacking boxes and putting things in their new place. One of the rooms I had done was the laundry room, since that is a room that I knew I would be using right away.

The people who used to live here called looking for the game controller for their playstation. They said that it might be in the cabinet in the laundry room. Since I had just been in the cabinet the day before I knew it wasn't there. It had been totally empty before I started putting my stuff in there. Even so, my husband checked in there anyway. The controller wasn't there, as I had said. However, when he opened the door, he saw an old compass. We did some research on the Internet and found out it was the kind of compass pilots used in WWII. It just appeared there, as it was not there the day before.

I put the compass in a wooden box which I keep in my desk drawer. It has been there for years now. Periodically I have taken it out to show people when the topic has come up.

Until last week....

I was telling a neighbor about it and when I took the wooden box out to show her, it was empty. Evidently whoever giveth, taketh away.

Recent Activity

Yesterday evening, as I sat at the computer, I swear I heard a loud man's voice. It was a very quick sound, and by time I realized I was hearing something it was over and I was not able to decipher it in my mind. Since I have been sick the past few days, I dismissed it. Although, it was difficult to totally dismiss it, as I think my dogs heard the sound too. They all looked down the hall, some barked and some growled.

I put all this out of my mind and continued to go about my business. I decided to take some Nyquil and go to bed early last night. In the middle of the night, several of my dogs bolted out of bed growling. Because I had taking the medicine, I didn't have the strength to get out of bed and see what was going on. I didn't hear anything going on, and it was very quiet last night. There was not a sound in the air. I promptly fell back to sleep.

Currently I have some decorations up for fall. I have a large pumpkin on my kitchen table and a smaller pumpkin on an entertainment center. In this picture from last year, where the tree is, is exactly where I have the pumpkin. I noticed earlier today that it was moved. Moved so far to the end of the entertainment center that it would be out of this shot.

Again, I tried to explain it away. My head has been in a fog. Perhaps in my cloudy mind I moved the pumpkin for some reason and just didn't remember doing it. At any rate, I put the pumpkin back in the center where it belongs.

Again, I went about my business. I took the dogs out and when I came back inside the pumpkin was moved again. Only this time, it was moved clear off the entertainment center and was on the coffee table across the room. I have put it back again.
